Now that I’m getting more hours at work, I know I should be using my days off to clean my house, renew my passport, schedule appointments, etc….but all I really want to do is frolic in the sunshine.

It’s so nice to drink coffee just because I want to, rather than using it as a stay-awake-to-study aid or a make-myself-more-tolerant-of-irritating-customers aid.

I arrived in Ottawa today to discover that Dad and Joy have finished re-doing my room (in preparation for when Dad sells the house next year). It’s so pretty and peaceful that I almost wish I was living at home this summer so I could spend more time in it.

I’m still laptop-less, so it’s not surprising that I’ve been spending a little more time in the “real world” than usual. Sean and I were both off work today and feeling adventurous, so we biked to Lake Ontario Park and had a picnic.

2 notes, May 14, 2012

I’m currently getting my Internet fix on Sean’s computer while he’s at work because mine has been behaving very badly since Friday.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t be out shopping for a new one by the end of the week!

Asad (one of my former yearbook co-photographers!) is always a great source of appealing photography and food for thought. I liked this one because the “Where do I go?” question is at the forefront of my mind these days. I have only one year left in my degree (and little desire to pursue further biochemistry), a fair number of friends applying to med school (and no desire to do the same) and a resume composed of retail experience and scattered extra-curricular involvement, so sometimes it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed by the lack of direction in my life.

Oddly enough, summertime relaxation looks remarkably like Christmas-time relaxation.

Oh hey, I’m done third year!

I finished my last exam at noon today. It feels pretty fantastic to be done.

Oh, academia. By this point, it feels like almost all of the other students at Queen’s (as well as most other students at most other schools) are done for the year. No such luck for third-year biochem - we’re still trying to maintain our motivation to study for Thursday’s physical biochem exam and Friday’s metabolism exam.
